The Solway Lleyn flock was founded in 2015 with the purchase of 5 shearling ewes from the Bronallt flock at the Lleyn Sheep Society Sale at Carlisle. The ewes are put to the ram in September, with the aim of lambing in late February to March. They produced their first crop of lambs in March 2016.
All lambs are closely monitored and performance recorded to help ensure only the best are kept for breeding. The ewe lambs that make the grade will all be kept to help grow and establish a core flock, while ram lambs are kept entire. Tups that ‘cut the mustard’ will then be kept for use here or sold as breeding stock.
